Web Development (Squarespace)
Afternoon Creative designed and built a new website for Marcie Scudder, a lens-based visual artist exploring the connection between the human experience and the ephemeral circles of nature’s seasons.
I collaborated closely with the client to understand her target audience, design preferences, and overall goals. The client’s website needed to serve two purposes: a portfolio for new and developing art as well as an e-commerce shop for individual art purchases. The website’s design is both functional and aesthetically pleasing, featuring a limited color palette, large imagery, and an intuitive navigation menu. I made sure that all elements of the design work together seamlessly and provide a user-friendly experience.
“Elana brings a fresh perspective to every project. She has helped me translate all of my swirling ideas into a clear, actionable plan for my online store, blog, email, and Instagram. I’ve learned so much about digital marketing and how to position my business for success. I can’t wait to work with her on another project!”

Ecommerce
I worked closely with the client to design an online shop that showcases her vast collection of work in a visually pleasing way while also making it easy for website users to purchase. The design prioritized discovery while also incorporating filtering and search functionality to help users quickly find what they’re looking for.
It was also important that the client could efficiently manage the evolving collection of content. I worked with the client to integrate the portfolios and the shop on the back end so that the client only has to add new work to one place.
Blog + Additional Pages
In addition to the portfolios and ecommerce functionality of the site, Marcie has a longstanding blog as well as an extensive resume of gallery exhibits and publications. I incorporated these additional pages into the sitemap and worked with the client to ensure that the site’s content was organized intuitively.
